Java provides a way for web pages to come alive, in a more sophisticated fashion than the blinking graphics (animated gif's) you see on many sites today. While java can be used for very nice animations (such as the photo sequence on our main page), it can also enable a web visitor to interact with the page in new ways. For instance, suppose you have a product that comes in several different colors... you may want to make it easy for someone to see the different colors or make other interactive choices about the product. Here is a car that can be seen in three colors, displayed more seamlessly than if the user had to click and visit three different pages. Most web page forms cannot change on the fly, but with java you can interactively change the form that is displayed without making the visitor wait for another page to load. Here for instance is a Travel Agency application for inquiring about a vacation package. Try the buttons.
Java is also used by many popular sites, such as CNN and the Weather Channel for news tickers and scrolling text.
